My dreams include confidently following my inner urges and living in attunement with the outer seasons—both of Mother Nature and the cosmos. For a long time, I mistook this as an inability to see things through, to adapt to a routine, or to embody that elusive concept of consistency. But what systems like Astrology and Human Design have shown me, time and again, is that the more I honor those urges and relinquish any expectations other than what could be uncovered in the process, the more I find a deeper, more authentic rhythm. It’s not about forcing myself into a mold, but about trusting the flow of natural cycles—whether it’s the cycles of the moon or my own body—and trusting the wisdom and unfolding that emerges from within.
Human Design, among its many layers, highlights how our unique design influences the way we process and adapt to information, food, and experiences. Part of my design points to the way my mind is constantly absorbing the world around me. I not only crave, but thrive on options and flexibility. Variety is the spice of (my) life. So, a few years ago—on a roll after becoming a coach, getting certified in holistic nutrition, and diving headfirst into my desire to follow my whims—I decided to expand my understanding of meditation. I came across a teacher training course that offered a smorgasbord of meditation styles and techniques, which felt practically tailored for me. I was especially drawn to somatic practices like Qi Gong and Tai Chi for their poetic, fluid motions, and to Yoga Nidra, or 'Yogic Sleep,' for the way it bridges mental awareness with physical sensation to ground, be present, and allow your mind to slow down to meet your body.
This mind-body disconnect is something I resonate with. The first thoughts that come to mind are restless nights, (or a full moon 😎) lying in bed trying to fall asleep while your mind races from thought to thought—or fixates on one singular worry, and all that’s surrounding it. But this disconnect shows up in other areas of life as well. I can recall countless instances and conversations that illustrate it, like speed walking through a vacation until you’re reminded that there’s nowhere you need to be, or high-stress situations that leave your body flooded with energy and emotions long after the moment has passed.
Renowned Tibetan Buddhist teacher Tsoknyi Rinpoche explains that, in modern life, the mind often races at a pace much faster than the body can handle. This not only throws us off balance but also leads to mental overload, which can result in physical and emotional stress as the body becomes disconnected from its natural rhythms. To heal this disconnect, he suggests slowing down the mind through meditation and breathing exercises, to realign the mind and body.
Everything comes back to the breath and body.
Lunar Eclipse in Pisces
Eclipses bring about change, while full moons bring clarity, allowing what’s hidden to surface. In the sign of Pisces, we tap into dreams, intuition, along with a side of delusion and escapism. We’re being called to dream big, while committing to the actions and work it takes to bring those dreams to reality. First and foremost, it’s an eclipse, the (full) moon, which governs our body and emotions, wants us to be grounded and well rested.
Attuning to the cosmos means knowing when to act and when to pause, in sync with the flow of change.
In the most recent episode of Karmic Mirror Podcast, we discuss the North Node in your chart and the themes of tonight’s Lunar Eclipse in Pisces. Next week, we’ll delve into the South Node and Solar Eclipse in Libra and talk about how to understand collective themes on a more personal level. I’m not an astrologer (yet?) but my heart lights aflame when I get the chance to share what I’m learning and in that process further expand my understanding.
Also, I could happily talk astrology all day.
I heard this quote a while ago, and it’s stuck with me as a sort of note of encouragement: “Teach what you most need to learn.” And let me tell you, I also need this meditation. Given the energetic intensity that tends to arise leading up to and during eclipse season, I felt called to Yoga Nidra once again. This exquisite practice gently guides the mind and body into a state of relaxation and rest while maintaining full awareness. I truly believe rest is a necessary aspect of being open to receiving. The moon reflects our emotions and inner world, and in the archetype of Pisces, we’re here to feel our feelings without getting swept up in them, missing any intuitive insights and moments of clarity. I hope this meditation helps you to ground and feel a little more rested.
Yoga Nidra Meditation
That’s all for now. Much love.
